• AFA-PDT Contract Now
The Association of Flight Attendants has been negotiating with Piedmont Airlines since August 18, 2009. We, the flight attendants, our affected family and friends are ready to see the hard working flight attendants of Piedmont Airlines get a CONTRACT NOW. We are signing this petition in support of their endeavor to get a contract now with improvements rather than with a no-cost mindset presented by Piedmont at every turn. Piedmont Airlines works because the flight attendants do!

  • End Corporate Personhood
We need a constitutional amendment to counteract the terrible impact of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. Corporations are not people and should not have all the same rights as people. In particular, given their excessive economic power, corporations' "free speech" rights should be strictly curbed.

  • State Farm: Stop using our money to finance the right-wing agenda
According to SourceWatch, State Farm Insurance is a major supporter of ALEC, the group that came up with "model legislation" adopted by a number of Republican-led state legislatures such as the Stand Your Ground law in Florida, voter ID laws that disenfranchise poor, elderly and minority voters, and the attacks on unions in Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana. State Farm is different from most of the other members of ALEC because it is not investor-owned. State Farm is a mutual benefit corporation, a kind of financial cooperative, which means that it is owned by its policy-holders, pooling their money to provide insurance services. The money it gives to ALEC rightfully belongs to its policyholder-owners, and State Farm has no right to use it to fund ALEC's right-wing agenda. You do not need to be a State Farm policyholder to sign! If you are, please leave a comment about how long you have been with State Farm and how many policies you have with them.

  • Tell President Obama "No Superpac $$" Let the People elect you
When we elected Barak Obama to the presidency he told us to hold his feet to the fire. He said he couldn't make the changes we all wanted and hoped for without US. Well, we didn't push back very hard in these past 3 years and, even though many of us are deeply disappointed, we still believe in the man's essential goodness. But, you can't fight to get our country back by taking money from the people who are stealing our country. Let's tell the President, if he will not use superpac money, We The People can and will re-elect him.

  • Show Me the Jobs, "Creators"!
It's time to stop perpetuating the lies about tax cuts for the rich enabling job creation. Make it a requirement that any company benefitting from a tax cut since 2000 must produce results of every job they created as a result of the cuts--to be verified by the GAO--as well as every job they have shipped overseas. Then we publish them JUST LIKE WE DO THE JOBS REPORTS. Let the market--and the people respond to that!

  • The Norquist Pledge
The Norquist Pledge has signatures of 90% of our republican representatives and even a few democrats have signed it. Although it has been around for a long time, the general public has not been educated as to how it really works. The Anti-Norquist Pledge has the right idea but it is not getting to the general public fast enough.

  • Keep Buffalo Creek Clean
Buffalo Creek, a high quality trout stream in Donegal Twp, Butler Country, Pennsylvania is regularly stocked by the PA Fish Commission and utilized by thousands of people for recreational purposes. It is known as one of the ten best trout streams in PA. Hickey Bottom Wetlands, where Buffalo Creek flows, is one of the diminishing areas of unspoiled land that exists in Butler County, habitat of the endangered Massasauga Rattlesnake and other threatened wildlife. A mining corporation is in the process of making application to the PA Department of Environmental Protection for strip mining permits to mine this land. There are now 3 surface mines and a deep coal mine proposed within a 5 mile radius. Strip mining removes all vegetation, destroys the habitat for all wildlife, removes all topsoil and the underground rock layer, then proceeds to remove coal. The mine will go down into the earth seven stories. The devastation to local wetlands, fishing waters, hunting grounds, and habitat for all the living creatures held within, will not be possible to be reclaimed in the lifetime of our generation. We are asking everyone who lives in or visits Donegal Twp Buffalo Creek to join in protecting the creek and wetlands

  • NO MORE REQUIRED ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFERS
Insurance and other companies are now requiring people to allow them to automatically withdraw money from checking accounts. Some companies even require additonal charges if you do not allow them to automatically withdraw. We have lost control of our bank accounts. This could result in overdraft and lack of funds charges. We need laws against this!
