During the past four years of recession, American families have struggled to keep their heads above water. The tax payers have been straddled with the debt of “too big to fail” financial institution bail-outs. They have watched good jobs go off-shore due to corporate sponsored government programs like NAFTA. Wages, benefits and jobs are at a fraction of what they were a few short years ago while corporate earnings soar. Meanwhile collection agencies continue taking much needed money from the shrinking monthly budgets of its targets; those with the least to spare. I am writing this in support of my fellow countrymen who are experiencing financial hardship, largely caused by the greed and misconduct of bankers and corporations. It is time we stand up and let them know that we will not sit idly by being bullied and gouged. We need to discourage these companies and their collection agencies from filing law suits or writs of garnishment. Behaving with impunity they act without mercy toward our neighbors, who are in many instances, barley staying fed and sheltered. Please help me address predatory companies by signing this petition, asking them to cease and desist from filing law suits and writs of garnishment until a true recovery has begun.

A Lincoln, Nebraska family is about to lose their home because the wife and mother in the family has cancer, and they no longer have the ability to make the payments on their sub-prime adjustable rate mortgage. The mortgage company will not work with them to help them keep their home. This is a time to negotiate--not foreclose.

It is time for New Mexico to take its money out of Wells Fargo and deposit it with our local community banks and credit unions: the institutions that support our local economies statewide. We can make a big difference in our local economy by keeping our money in New Mexico for the benefit of New Mexico's small businesses. It has been announced that President Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention will be given at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Considering the image of Wall Street, and B of A in particular, as the criminals who got us into this economic mess, we insist that this venue is inappropriate and should be changed.

Foreclosures and abuses by the Big Banks are crippling our economy. In many cases the Big Banks broke rules, falsified paperwork or defrauded home buyers—and gambled with our homes to enrich themselves. They have yet to be held responsible. Our attorney general has the power to hold the big banks accountable and to provide restitution to homeowners who have lost their homes or whose mortgages are "underwater."

I am concerned that GOP/Corporate-centered, Supreme Court favored decision in Citizens United will consolidate Corporate Plutocracy in America. As such, the Citizens United decision must be effectively repealed in order to protect American democracy equitably at all levels.

Friendly's Restaurant recently shut down a portion of its stores. They did it in the middle of the night with no notice to its employees. When they came in that morning the doors were locked with no explanation. Once again the greedy corporations thinks they can do what they want to the struggling middle class. Organize a protest at one of the still remaining places, call them, or write the ceo a letter and of course boycott them, till, the fairly compensate the employes.

During bankruptcy, United Airlines terminated its employee pension plans and handed them to the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC), resulting in up to 80% losses of benefits for retirees. United violated PBGC rules by stating its frequent flyer program was nearly a $400 million liability, its book value, when it should have been shown as a $7 billion asset, its market value as per PBGC requirements. Part of that program could have been sold, as Air Canada did, with that money used to fund its pensions. Now United is highly profitable and has over $8 billion in cash. The PBGC, funded to a great extent by American taxpayers, has the authority to make United take back and restore its pension plans, greatly improving the quality of life for United retirees and removing that liability from taxpayers.
