FORECLOSURE MORATORIUM NOWHousing drives the U.S. economy. That is not happening now, and will not happen as long as the foreclosure crisis is permitted to continue. Milions of Americans have lost their homes through foreclosure; a substantial number of which were fraudulent. Millions more face the same fate this year and beyond. Millions of foreclosed upon homes have been dumped on the market (by the banks) resulting in a depressed real estate market and billions of dollars in lost equity by home owners who are current on their loans. What is lost midst all the statistics and issues are the children; thousands of innocent children who are now homeless and frightened. It is a national disgrace. Banks and other lenders destroyed our economy and caused the housing crisis; they will not fix it. Every American homeowner is affected and needs relief from this disasterous situation. Please support this movement to end the crisis. Please sign this petition urging President Obama to declare a three year nation-wide moratorium on foreclosures and on the re-sale of foreclosed upon homes. The moratorium will force lenders to resolve the issues with homeowners on a case-by-case basis. The moratorium will have an immediate effect on the economy by replacing the current atmosphere of fear and anxiety with one of hope and optimism. Please support this effort; we need 10,000 signatures by July 31st. Please forward this message to everyone you know. Please sign this petition to President Barack Obama63 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James C. Landis

Cap Interest Rates NowWe have to put pressure on the auto finance industry as well as credit card companies to cap their interest rates for products and services to the middle class. The middle class uses credit cards and we are the largest group of outstanding auto loans and debt carriers. These auto loans for those without a credit score of 750 or above can go as high as 25%. I myself have been paying 21% on my auto. That said I have paid for my car twice. Credit card companies will offer an initial low interest rate until one payment is late or your credit score is below their standard and then it can skyrocket to as high as 35%. Because of this I have not had a credit card in 6 years. These companies make money from our purchases as well as our credit score. We, the middle class, make the economy; not the 1% of those that hold all the wealth in this country. What do these companies do with our money? Why have I had to pay for my car twice the amount of the selling price? Very often these companies ship their jobs, call center jobs, etc. over seas thus saving them money and making a large profit from the interest imposed. Perhaps some are investing in political campaign funding. The Middle Class is the backbone of this country and finance interest rates are at an all time high, giving these finance companies a huge profit while the middle class dwindle financially and is unable to spend in order to revive the economy. Put the pressure on to Cap Interest rates now!3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jordanna Preer

No Growth Economic/Social ModelThe Earth has finite resources. It cannot support endless growth of any kind. A completely new, sustainable path for humans must be followed or economic, social, and population crashes are inevitable.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dr. Paul W. Palm

Consumer DebtThe Federal Reserve has been bailing out the banks by buying lots of toxic debt (derivatives, etc.) from the Big Banks to the tune of trillions and trillions of dollars. Why shouldn't it instead be buying up the mortgages of people about to be foreclosed on and students who hold huge debt but have no job?.The Fed can even make money on the deal by charging between 1%-5% interest since its own cost of money is only about .075 or so.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David R. Adequate Teaching CertificationAs an Art major and undergraduate from a major college, the government still requires math and reading testing scores to become a highly qualified teacher in public education. Reading and Arithmetic skills are imperative to becoming an excellent teacher; but the testing criteria for teacher certification requirements are truly archaic and non-relevant. Classroom management skills, behavior development and adolescent psychology, and time management would certainly portray a more accurate assessment of an educational leader within an academic setting. I was a teacher with provisional certification only for six years and due to not achieving a passing score with a difference of 7 points, was unable to attain “highly qualified” status, therefore forced to loose over half my income and become a teaching assistant only. There may be plenty of educators that have excellent test taking skills and can still regurgitate their high school curricula but simply are not effective educators because they lack “people” skills. I implore you to let our government education leaders, congressmen, senators and local community leaders that it is truly time for a change. Extremely gifted people with incredible nurturing and teaching talents are being denied the opportunities to help today’s youth graduate and continue the American dream of a career and the pursuit of happiness beyond just a low paying dead-end job. Sign this petition, not only for the discrimination of college graduates but to help our kids reach their goals and aspirations beyond high school.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alan Cohen

Stop Wells Fargo, Bank of America and others from ending senior accountsAs of August 1 these banks will convert senior accounts to fee carrying accounts. These banks are making record profits. They will increase those profits by ending senior accounts. Many seniors have limited income and benefit from having no fee attached to their senior accounts.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marcelle Bessman

Off The CliffThe petition is about allowing the Bush Tax Cuts expire at the end of the year and let the government "Go Off The Cliff." By doing that all the Bush cuts will end including the cuts for the 1% of extremely wealthy Americans. Then when the congress again brings up cutting the taxes for the 99% at the beginning of 2013 it will not be a raising of taxes and will render Grover Norquists 'contract to never raise taxes' null and void thus releasing Republicans who signed it from that obligation. "Off the Cliff" would actually only be a small bump in the road.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by B Hostetler

Stop Taxing Social Security Retirement BenefitsI am taking Social Security retirement benefits early in order to make ends meet. Of course, I am being penalized for doing this by receiving a lesser amount. On top of that I am being taxed for this portion of my income. Since the Republicans are so keen on cutting taxes, perhaps we should end the income tax on what was intended to be an entitlement and for which we have paid in all of our working lives.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Philip Claus
