• Gratuity included
People in the service industry, especially servers, are taking a beating, due to the economy. We make $5hr, around $3 after taxes. We depend on our tips to survive. The average tip 5yrs ago was between 15 & 18%. It is now between 10 & 13%. A good percentage of people dont tip at all. This is unexceptable and change needs to happen. Either raise the hourly wage or automatically add 15% to any service. 18% to parties of 8 or more. Help our hard working citizens get what they work very hard for.

  • Repeal Social Security Taxation
Social Security income was never taxed until the Clinton Administration. This was not part of the plan when Babyboomers paid into this program their whole lives. With the drastic crash of the economy, we need to remove taxes from Social Security income.

  • Stop the wrecking ball - Save the Kirkbride in Fergus Falls
The presence of the Kirkbride building has generous economic worth. Give time, opportunities can flourish within this building through reuse and redevelopment. Rather than believing that the Kirkbride will hamper economic growth, consider it a critical element in making it happen. We're urging elected officials to request an extension of the Minnesota State grant dollars for the Kirkbride building in Fergus Falls.

  • Tax Reform: Bring Back Reagan Tax Reform
When Reagan (GOD of GOP) was talked into reforming the tax code early in his administration, they lowered the top tax bracket from 50% to 35% but got rid of as many loop holes as they could to offset the lower rate of revenue. It didn't work, I believe Reagan ended up signing onto 7 tax increases during the rest of his term in order to help balance the budget. Even he realized "trickle down" was not working. But compared to today, a 35% top tax bracket is far more than what the top tier of the 1% pay in taxes. Especially if we removed most of the loop holes and deductions. Most of which the middle class can't take advantage of. All of the loop holes that were eliminated during Reagan's tax reform have been put back in over the years and then some. Which is why Mitt only pays 14% in taxes on millions. If the Democrats introduced a bill to return to 1980's "Reagan" tax reform it would be dicey for the Republicans to disparage the bill since it would be honoring their hero and savior. Not to mention going back to the tax code rate of 30 years ago. How could they not sign that bill and still call themselves a Reagan Republican?

  • Close the entertainment tax loophole
A petition to stop businesses from deducting entertainment expense from their income tax, claiming it's a cost of business. Often, CEos and their wives use this perk to entertain themselves rather than customers. The IRS can't police this. People should sign this because businesses are able to reduce their tax bill, and then the public has to pay more taxes to make up for the taxes businesses avoid.

  • Stop Special Interests in Congress
People have no idea the influence Unions have in the political process. They are corrupt and are strangling the democratic party. Look at what's happening in Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal. Too many people on the Gov't payroll, supported by unions, with not enough people to pay all the lavish benefits. When you attempt to act responsibly and reduce benefits, they riot.

  • Jobs for Ex-Offenders
There have been studies showing that it's hard for ex-offenders to find work. I am an ex-offender have been diligently searching for work, to no avail. The sad part is people read your resume and see that you have checked the box where you been a convicted felon, and judge the book before reading it. A lot of these EX-offenders and the keyword is "ex" are mainly looking for second chances.

  • Pay $3.00 towards the debt
As citizens we should have some small measure of control over where our tax money goes. The more we direct these funds ourselves the less the politicians can squander.

  • Restrict All Credit Reporting Agencies
Credit agencies profit from distributing your credit information to various entities, including potential future employers. This information is about you and should be considered your property. No potential employer should be able to base their hiring decision on your credit rating. This rating has no bearing on one's ability to perform high quality work and be a good employee. Your credit rating provides one more opportunity for descrimination!
