• Create A Cabinet Department of Longevity
The aging of the US population - one person ever 7 seconds joins the 50 and older crowd - is one of the most critical issues of our time. It impacts economic, political, cultural, social and environmental issues and will dramatically alter the lives of young and old alike. Soon half our population will be in this category and our government, our institutions and businesses and many of our citizens are no prepared to address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We need an aggresive, innovative focus now.

  • Catholic Medical Coverage Lawsuit
Catholic bishops are concerned about the government's requirement that birth control pills be a part of an employee's medical coverage even if that institution receives federal money for their services. The bishops are concerned about the woman losing her reproductive ability and that is contrary to their religious beliefs for any reason. This should also include any treatment for any medical condition or medication that could reduce or render a male employee, priest or bishop sterile.

  • every elected official earning over 100k be it salery or pention pays thier own healthcare costs
Why should someone making over $100,000 a year need a taxpayer making $30,000 a year to pay for their healthcare? How about they pay their own way and each kick in a buck (a dollar) towards healthcare for some hard working, 40 hour plus a week person.

  • I Pledge to Help My Patients and Their Families Live Healthier Lives
Four health behaviors - tobacco use, alcohol use, unhealthy eating and lack of physical activity - contribute to the majority of all chronic diseases such as diabetes, emphysema, high blood pressure and joint pain. Physicians can help their patients by talking with them at every visit about how to improve their health by quitting smoking, eliminating high risk alcohol consumption, eating healthier foods and being more physically active. The AMA is asking physicians to declare their public support for counseling every patient to prevent chronic diseases and improve health outcomes.

  • Expand Medicare to Cover All Americans!
The Supreme Court has decided that the only compromise possible to make health care affordable is unconstitutional. Bankrupting the nation, its people, and leaving tens of millions without healthcare is unconscionable. The time has come to expand Medicare to all Americans.

  • Governor Scott: Please Use Evidence Based Guidelines for Infant Feeding in a Disaster.
The new guidelines for Disaster Preparedness for Florida have been posted at Floridadisaster.org. The recommendations for infant feeding are not based on evidence and some of them are not only wrong but dangerous and pose a threat to our infant population should a disaster strike. The mission of the Florida Department of Health and Florida Division of Emergency Management is not being fulfilled by this type of information being given to the public. The Governor's office has access to the latest and best evidence based guidelines for bottle and breast fed babies during a disaster but has not used them in their publications. Sign our petition to get the Governor's office to use evidence based information on infant feeding, and help save the lives of our youngest residents in the case of an emergency.
