• Pass the Equal Rights Amendment
There are many people in this country who don't know that we have yet to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, which would automatically guarantee equal rights for the women of the United States. The ERA would make wage discrimination illegal. The ERA would put women on an equal footing in every area, and eliminate the need for stopgap legislation. Equal treatment of women must become the law of the land. Women in this country are still not legally the equal of men; we have fewer rights than gay men, black, white, red and yellow men. The time has come to support your mothers, sisters, wives, friends and lovers. Let's get the ERA passed.

  • Social Security Gender Change Requirements for Transgender Americans Needs to be Modernized!
As a pre-operation transgender woman living on Social Security Disability, I realize that the Social Security Administration's requirement that, in order to get one's gender changed one must have sexual reassignment surgery, is definitely outdated! on My Connecticut Driver's License, only a statement on letterhead from a licensed MD or Psychologist is needed for this!

  • Campaign Honesty Essential
I do not think I am the only one who is tired of candidates lying about one another or other campaign issues to the point that voters often do not know what is truth. I would like to see more accountability and sanctions for public falsehoods. For example, we could have a non-partisan watchdog organization impose large public fines for false statements, with the revenue to be used for campaing reform..

  • "Let everyone in Ohio vote early, not just a few"
My name is Kevin Davis, and the reason why, I'm starting this petition is to let people know what's going on here in Ohio, as it pertains to early voting this year, that what the Secretary of State Husted is doing is a form of voter suppression, and that it's wrong.

  • reorganize Nafta
President Obama promised that he would reorganize the NAFTA agreement and in his first years he has not come up with a plan to share with the American people. I still think it was the wrong thing for president Bush and Clinton to sign this bill. It has weaken the American work force and increased unemployment and weakened America's backbone.

  • Petition to President Obama
Let us ask President Obama to assure us of his firm commitment to arrest the decline of integrity and productivity in the U.S. financial sector by promising to appoint Paul Krugman as Secretary of the Treasury in his next Administration. To convince Americans he intends to end the drain of U.S. taxpayers' money and citizens' economic welfare through the unregulated avarice and self-dealing of the U.S.banking and investment sector the President must drive the foxes out of the chicken coop. Unless we can be assured that the U.S. economic system will no longer be rigged to support this country's 1% but instead foster the well-being of the 99%, President Obama will go forward with tepid enthusiasm from his "base."

  • Corn for food, not fuel
Because of a mandate, the Renewable Fuels Standard, 9% of fuel must be ethanol, so 40% of our corn goes for fuel. The UN has asked for end of mandate to relieve world food crisis. Ethanol pollutes, is less fuel efficient and costs taxpayers money. A governor must make request to EPA.

  • Petition for a traffic signal at S. Trade and Country Place Drive in Matthews, NC
Residents of Matthews Estates and Country Place Drive in Matthews, NC who can only access their homes from Country Place Drive: The planned development of the ACTS expansion Application # 2012-589 at Fullwood and South Trade Street will change your ability to travel to and from your homes every day. We need to act now by returning a signed copy of the above petition to our town commissioners and also by contacting them and by attending any of the following meetings at Matthews Town Hall: Town Board Meeting: Monday August 27, at 7:00 p.m. Open Comments Planning Board Meeting: Tuesday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. Project Review Comments Town Board Meeting: Monday September 10 at 7:00 p.m. Planned Vote to make our community needs known and show support for a traffic light and a safe intersection in our neighborhood. For more information about the ACTS project, call or email the mayor or town commissioners and planning commission, and for details please see Application #2012-589 at the following site: http://www.matthewsnc.com/Departments/PlanningandDevelopment/PendingZoningActions.aspx (See page 11 for current street configuration plans.)

  • Franklin County Board of Elections, Roll Back New Restrictions on Early Voting!
For months, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has personally acted to restrict early voting in counties with large Democratic populations—casting tie-breaking votes to limit voting to weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in urban areas like Franklin County, where in previous elections 82% of early voters did so on nights or weekends. Now he is considering implementing these restrictions statewide. This is unacceptable. My petition seeks to get the Franklin County Board of Elections to publicly support expanded early voting hours across Ohio.
