• Get Todd Akin off the House Science Committee
GOP leadership put Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) on the House Science Committee. This is the guy who says women can't get pregnant from "legitimate rape"(?) He's also said the federal government should not subsidize school lunches for poor children. What a great spokesman for GOP social Darwinism, as well as scientific ignorance.

  • Stop US military Aid to Israel!
This petition is about ending military aid to Israel. All of us in the US, as well as in Israel and the Occupied Territories, have been adversely affected by our financial support of Israel's Occupation. It mortgages our children's future to support an illegal Occupation while damaging our reputation, and further endangering our troops, in the Middle East.

  • Remove Rep. Todd Akin (R.-MO.) from the House IMMEDIATELY
I am befuddled that someone in our government has made such a ridiculous claim. Rep. Akin should be nowhere near the US Government nor should he have any involvement in the decision making processes for the American people.

  • Honorably Discharged veterans denied disability again and again
Any Honorably discharged veteran who has a severe disability that he or she claims was in the line of duty based on evidence should be automatically covered by the veterans administrations pension and not have to keep coming up with new and different proof every time the government manufactures a new " code" or regulation that continuously denies the veterans and there are many many who are denied ligitamate claims. The US government screws over its veterans who have done their duty and served their country honorably and all the money spent trying to keep veterans poor and unable to hire the qualified lawyers who can and will take them to court and let the public see to what extremes are gone to in order to deny benefits could be used to pay up what is owed to honorably discharged disabled veterans and to shame the us government to the deserve they earned in doing so. Our government supports and spends billions to "HELP" countries rebuild and support that we spent billions to destroy in wars and do so with the money stolen from our own veterans. Its so so true that a few rule so many in our "progressive" country. We all will be working to build a country for someone else soon, very soon.

  • Senator Al Franken: Make Federal Student Loan Repayments Pre-Tax
College graduates today are facing unbearable high levels of student loan debt. Spread over 10 to 30 years of payments, these loans are preventing young college graduates from being able to afford to purchase a home. The current system is killing the American dream of home ownership. By making all federally funded student loan repayments pre-tax, more young families will be able to experience the satisfaction of home ownership. Future generations are now less likely to attend college due to fear of unemployment and unimaginable student loan debt. Don't let the United States become the land of broke, uneducated, and homeless.

  • Help U.S. military women raped by fellow-soldiers
U.S. military women soldiers in record numbers have been raped by fellow-soldiers, often officers. They currently do not receive the help they need--financial, psychological, and physical--including abortions, if they become pregnant and choose not to carry to term the fetus of a rapist. They deserve our help and respect for their work to protect U.S. interests at home and abroad.

  • Tell Monsanto: Endorse California's Proposition 37, Require GMO food labeling
In Europe Monsanto has publicly stated that food labeling has Monsanto’s full backing and that Monsanto fully supports food manufacturers and retailers in their introduction of labels on genetically engineered food in Europe. We request that the Monsanto Company look carefully at its own principles, code of conduct, and previous statements, and reconsider its position on the labeling of genetically engineered food in California. We believe that the respectful and ethical choice is for Monsanto to publicly endorse California’s PROPOSITION 37 - the November, 2012 ballot initiative to require labeling of genetically modified foods sold in California. Monsanto pledges on its website to demonstrate integrity, respect, ethical behavior, perspective and honesty in everything its employees, contractors and management do. Monsanto also pledges to provide extensive educational programs, and to “ensure that information is available, accessible, and understandable.” In the U.S. Monsanto continues to oppose the labeling of genetically engineered foods, even though it would indicate they contain Monsanto’s own products. Monsanto currently complies with labeling regulations in the European Union. Why is the U.S. different? Why does Monsanto hide from us what they readily provide to the people of Europe? People have a right to know what ingredients are in their food. Millions of people are concerned about genetically engineered food for reasons related to environment, health, and/or social issues, and want genetically engineered food to be labeled. As a matter of integrity their concerns should be respected. Current regulations in California and the U.S. do not require labeling of genetically engineered food. California’s Proposition 37 would require that genetically engineered food sold at retail in California be labeled. 970,000 signatures were gathered in California to place Prop 37 on the ballot. Many more consumers in California, the U.S. and the world want to be told if their food contains genetically modified ingredients. We call upon the Monsanto Company to endorse Proposition 37, the California Right to Know Initiative, that would require genetically engineered food to be labeled in retail food products in California.

  • Stop moose hunting in Hope Alaska
New Federal Subsistence moose hunting in the Hope Alaska area is depleteing the small moose population tremendously. A moose was shot up Palmer Creek Road at 2:30 in the morning.(That is illegal)Last year only two of the 4 or 5 moose that were shot were legal. Of those that were illegal were two cow. Cows allways have @ least 2 calves. The hunters were caught but if 2 or 3 were caught how many others were shot and not caught poaching. Moose hunting in the Hope Area has not been legal for at least 20 years because the moose population cannot bare it.

  • Take down "Heterosexual Awareness Month" from Facebook
The Facebook page, "Heterosexual Awareness Month", was established some time in June. It has consistently posted anti-GLBTQI* messages and images, and takes part in fear-mongering and demonising the Queer community. It is a gathering place for those that openly hate queer folk, and they are trying to forward their mission with t-shirts, pamphlets, and booths/tables in public places. They are a vehicle of hatred and need to be shut down.
