Hey @Uber: Kick the Saudi Dictator Off Your Board of DirectorsSaudi Arabia is ruled by a brutal dictatorship that is destroying the planet with its massive oil exports. This dictatorship has invested $3.5 billion in Uber, and a representative of the dictator sits on the Uber board of directors. In a new interview with "Axios on HBO," Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi called the murder of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi "a mistake" and compared it to Uber mistakes with self-driving cars. Khashoggi's death wasn't a "mistake" -- it was a murder. The person responsible for that murder is Saudi dictator Mohammed bin Salman, one of Uber's biggest shareholders through his Saudi Public Investment Fund. In his interview, Uber's CEO suggested that he did not know that the CIA had concluded that Saudi Arabia's dictator was directly involved in Khashoggi's murder. Facing public backlash, the Uber CEO later backtracked from his comments to Axios, issuing a written statement: "I said something in the moment that I do not believe. When it comes to Jamal Khashoggi, his murder was reprehensible and should not be forgotten or excused." But Uber's ties to the Saudi dictatorship go beyond the Uber CEO's on-air defense of the murder of Khashoggi. Saudi Arabia's dictatorship has placed Yasir Al-Rumayyan on the Uber board of directors. Al-Rumayyan is the managing director of the Saudi dictatorship's Public Investment Fund. Uber must remove the Saudi dictatorship from the Uber board and end the dictatorship's investments in the company. In addition to murdering Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi dictatorship has slaughtered thousands of civilians in Yemen, imprisoned women's rights activists, and jailed countless nonviolent human rights reformers. 1. Mitch McConnell should recuse himselfMitch McConnell MUST recuse from participation in the Trump Impeachment trial. It is inappropriate for him to be in a position to influence who testifies and how the proceedings of the trial would take place. He has publicly stated that he will not be fair in his Oath of Office duties. He also has a conflict of interest where his wife is directly employed by, and, owes her job in the President’s Cabinet directly to Trump. A U.S. Senator in this situation with any integrity would recuse oneself from participating in the trial of the President, as he cannot fairly speak for the people.275 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Aylonna Welling

Forest Schools for IllinoisIn August of 2019, Chicago's Forest Playschool in North Park Village, an outdoor preschool that had been opened for 5 years and had served 200+ families, was forced to close. Forest Playschool was unable to be licensed under the current daycare regulations because those regulations do not allow for outdoor early learning centers. A growing body of research shows that outdoor play and learning is of vital importance for children, contributing greatly to their mental, physical, spiritual, and academic development. And yet, today's children are given 25% less playtime and 50% less unstructured outdoor time than generations before them, leading to increases in childhood nearsightedness, anxiety, ADHD, obesity, and more. Schools like the Forest Playschool can help directly address these problems, but there is currently no legal pathway for them to operate in Illinois. Join me in signing a petition to ask the Illinois State House and Senate to pass a bill to legalize and standardize outdoor preschools in the State of Illinois! safer roads and reducing excessive speeding on Gedney St and surrounding avenuesTo the members of the Nyack Village Hall: I am writing on behalf of continuous speeding issues happening on Gedney Street, as well as main St, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Street leading down to Gedney Street. I myself had a specific incident recently when a car came very close to hitting my dog and me while speeding down Fourth Avenue. I am pleased to see that new 25 mph signs were put up on Gedney, but the real truth is no one who is a reckless driver is going to pay attention to these signs. I am proposing that speed bumps be considered, as well as other helpful speed slowing techniques, such as narrowing Gedney Street and giving us the sidewalk we so desperately need, crossing lanes ( like the ones on Main St) and putting up electrical police signs that monitors speed on these roads. I have spoken to other neighbors who agree that the reckless driving in this area is getting out of hand. And with so few sidewalks, it makes it much more dangerous to walk on the road. I wanted to make this proposal to you with the hopes that the village will pay closer attention to what is happening in our community and make it safer for everyone. I am hoping to provide you with signatures from my neighbors to show unison around the changes we need. I am hoping my neighbors and I can advocate and participate to make the same changes possible. Again, thank you for your time and consideration on this important issue. I think we all want Nyack to remain a vibrant and safe place to reside. Sincerely, Erica Sobel and neighbors of Nyack ____________________________38 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Erica Sobel

delay holiday shopping until impeachment is successfulWe KNOW what will happen: The Democrats in the House will find plenty of evidence of trump's treason, corruption, and crimes, and vote to impeach. The republicans in the Senate will vote to acquit. The result - trump will come out of this feeling that he is totally above the law, his damage to the country will only get worse, others will do what trump has gotten away with, and by hook or by crook he will win in 2020. We have to stop trump now. The republicans are all about money. I say lets hit them where it will hurt them financially. Please join me in signing an online pledge not to do holiday spending until trump & pence are out of power. Let's scare the hell out of the money interests that have so corrupted our country!67 of 100 SignaturesCreated by A. American

Tell Matt Bevin to concedeKentucky is my home. I was born, raised, and still live in Kentucky. As a proud Kentuckian, I strive to make my home a better place for all. Because of that, I like many others, cast my vote in every election and make my voice heard. When I voted this November, I was proud to cast my vote in a fair election and excited that some of my friends were running for various positions. While I was upset that most of my slate didn’t win, I still respect that Kentuckians made their voices heard and the candidates that won, won the election fair and square. I respect these public servants and their respective offices enough to know it's unhelpful for Matt Bevin to go around questioning the will of the people of Kentucky. Andy Beshear was the better candidate for Kentucky and won as a result. It's as simple as that. We aren't here to question the wins of Democrats or Republicans. We are saying though, to respect not only Governor-Elect Beshear and the seat, but also to respect Kentuckians and their voices. I started this petition so we can get to the business of setting our bipartisan leaders up for a successful transition. Please sign and share this petition to send a message that Kentuckians have spoken and Matt Bevin needs to concede.1,430 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Krystal Spencer

Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, Resign!Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and special representative to Iraq, should step down and apologize to the Iraqi protestors, who are demonstrating peacefully for weeks against their corrupt government and are still facing an atrocious crackdown from the Iran-backed Iraqi government. Hundreds are being killed every day by sarin gas or live bullets, and thousands of others are injured.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Miaad Hassan

Tell ICE to #FreeKelly!Kelly is a 23-year-old transgender asylum seeker who has been locked up in immigration jail for nearly three years. Kelly is suffering medical neglect and was put in solitary confinement for four months solely because of her gender identity. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has the power to release her immediately but refuses to let her go. Kelly is suffering tremendously, both physically and mentally. Additionally, her unnecessarily prolonged detention is exacerbating the trauma she has experienced as a domestic violence and human trafficking survivor. During her nearly three years in detention, Kelly has never been given a bond hearing. All Kelly wants is to live safely and without fear. Unfortunately, there are many more transgender individuals like Kelly who are unjustly locked up in immigration jail while they apply for asylum, and are experiencing inhumane treatment because of their gender identity. Kelly needs your help. Sign the petition to demand that ICE use its discretion to #FreeKelly now!2,778 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Julia Toepfer
