Let's Protect America! True Equality NOW!Subject: Let's Have Honesty In Our Equality, America! Hi, The 14th Amendment doesn't actually grant Equal Protection to all Americans, the way that most of us have been raised to believe. There is a gradient of justice. In fact, Justice Anton Scalia went so far as to remind us in an interview with California Lawyer that issues of gender discrimination that are brought before the Supreme Court are given intermediate scrutiny while issues of race are given strict scrutiny, even though they're both immutable traits. (http://www.callawyer.com/story.cfm?eid=913358&evid=1) EQUAL PROTECTION SHOULD MEAN EQUAL WHEN IT COMES TO PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW. Right now, the Supreme Court is also more willing to promote the rights of corporations above its citizens, when it is their job to interpret the Constitution and adjudicate cases based upon it - not to create new law; that is the legislature's job. In one amendment, we can remind our Supreme Court that corporations are not equal to people, but are made of people, and are not deserving of natural rights, and welcome traditionalist justices into the 21st century with a the meaning of equality that every American understands as true.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rachael S. Preserve health care benefits for partners of Michigan public employees, vote NO on HB 4770 and H...Radical legislators in Lansing are trying again to eliminate health care benefits for unmarried partners of public employees. House Bills 4770 and 4771 will likely be up for a full vote in Michigan’s House of Representatives this week.52 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Roland L Leggett Jr

Remove Rick PerryWith only 33% of the whole Texas vote Perry won as our governor. I am 23 years old and believe that with more than half the vote we can show America how we really feel about Rick Perry and his "success in Texas".122 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Monique Joseph

Pass the American Jobs ActWe need to unite as a nation and get America on the right track to recovery. Let's follow the example of the heroes from Utah who worked together for the common goal to save a life. They didn't stop to ask about affiliations, they just sprang into action. Imagine what we can accomplish by uniting as a nation and not as Democrats vs. Republicans. Let's get to work to save many lives and livelihoods.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary L. Turrin

Camp Easton ForeverTo all Scouts, Cubs, Leaders and Parents, The Inland Northwest Council is evaluating a sale of Boy Scout Camp Easton on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Discovery Land (Gozzer Ranch) is proposing to swap the current Camp Easton site for a location in Windy Bay so that it can develop the existing Camp Easton grounds For reasons listed below we think that the sale of the camp is not in the best interest of Scouts. Fortunately there is something we can do to help impact the Council’s decision – let them know where we stand!! We need every Cub, Boy Scout, Parent and Leader to write the Scout office. Less than half of the voting members have attended the public input sessions and the council will not provide contact information for the 57 voting board members. Your only way to make an impact and be heard is to write to the Scout office and ask that they forward your mail to the executive committee. Please take the time to write a letter stating your opinion about the sale to: BSA Executive Board, 411 W Boy Scout Way, Spokane, WA 99201 A simple postcard or handwritten note can make a huge impact. In your letter please state your position about the proposed sale, ask that the board meeting at which the sale is discussed be open to the public and let the council know if you would be willing to help with making repairs/donations to the current camp location. Please forward this information to others that would be interested in the outcome of Camp Easton. We feel strongly about this issue for the following reasons: - Camp Easton is the premier waterfront camp in the Northwest; it was donated to Scouts over 82 years ago and is extremely popular. The camp has been booked full since 2007 and is already fully reserved for 2012. Over 1600 scouts and leaders use the camp each summer. We obviously have a successful program at the current location. There are many scout camps in this country that just plain don't work. When one has a scout camp that is full with a waiting list why make such a radical change?? - Camp Easton is the premier waterfront camp in the Northwest due to topography and waterfront, which sets it apart from just a Scout camp on the water. There is no comparison between the current sheltered 60 ft sandy beach and a 30 ft rocky basalt beach on Windy Bay - a bay which has earned its name!! - The proposed site for a new camp is located on the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Reservation. The Tribe will be able to set the rules regarding fishing, boat usage and docks. The Tribe also retains its right to have members hunt on the proposed camp land. Since Scouting is not a member of the Tribe, we will have no representation in the Tribal government that will make the laws concerning camp usage. - Granted, there are problems that need fixing at Camp Easton, but they can be fixed. The council claims they have put significant effort into fundraising; however, as mentioned in the public meetings, the fundraising has not been for specific causes rather just a “chunk” of money for the camp. It is clear from the meetings that once the liabilities are noted, estimated and prioritized, that individuals and contractors will come forward to remedy. We ask that our Leaders, Parents, Scouts and Cubs take time to write now, “Keep Camp Easton”. If you have sons or acquaintances that have camped at Camp Easton in the past, please contact and ask them to respond as well. Respectfully, Camp Easton Forever!149 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Camp Easton Forever

Stop Chris Christie's plan to let big polluters ruin our water, air and landFor many decades, most Americans have taken it for granted that government should protect the integrity of the water that we drink, the air that we breathe, and the ground that we walk on. It’s about keeping our kids healthy and being good stewards of the Earth. It’s not a Republican issue, or a Democratic issue. It’s a simple values proposition. Unfortunately, Chris Christie doesn’t agree. Governor Christie has proposed a new Department of Environmental Protection Waiver rule that would allow companies to circumvent over 100 guidelines that protect our water, air and land. So, last week, I introduced a resolution holding these proposed rules inconsistent with the law’s intent. Simply put, if the Legislature passes my measure, Governor Christie’s waiver rule will be on its way to defeat. Please join me in saying NO to Chris Christie, by signing this petition. Tell the Legislature that they need to protect our citizens by overturning the governor’s dangerous policy. Governor Christie’s plan is bad environmental policy and bad economics. His proposal would allow those corporations with the deepest pockets to choose which environmental protection rules they will follow, and which they won’t. Determinations will be made without input from the communities and citizens who are affected. This Christie Administration’s scheme will further the economic imbalance between powerful corporations and small businesses. Small businesses will not likely have the resources or influence to go through the waiver process; nor will small businesses have the necessary certainty to know which rules apply to them and which don’t. Please join me in saying NO to Chris Christie, by signing this petition. We cannot allow environmental protection in New Jersey to be undercut by the highest bidder, nor can we allow giant multinational polluters to use their clout and cash to muscle out small businesses. Urge the Legislature to protect our citizens by overturning the governor’s dangerous policy. Sincerely, Barbara Buono Senate Majority Leader (NJ)12,111 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Barbara Buono
