• Say "NO" to the La Verne Water Rate Increase!
Our elected officials implemented a 40% increase for our meter charge in October of 2017 in addition to an 8% increase in the unit price for our water and now they're coming back to the well (our wallets!). Proposition 218 requires that the city give resident 45 days advance notice prior to the Dec 3rd public hearing by the City Council. During the public hearing, if a majority protest is received then the City Council cannot adopt the noticed rate increase; if less than a majority protest is received, then the City may adopt the rate increase. A majority protest is 50% plus 1 of ALL property owners noticed, not a simple majority of votes received. Make YOUR voice heard and help ensure our water rates are kept within reason by signing this petition! • Wear Pink To The Polls
Every day delivers news of fresh assaults to human decency and evisceration of our Democratic institutions. This continuous stream of Trump's lies and bullying erodes the quality of my life, and I do not feel safe under his leadership. Now in full-throttle, Trump's cheap tricks-- shameless lies, utter mean-spiritedness, and coliseum theatrics--to win at any cost are resulting that seem to increase his popularity, yielding to his authoritarian aspirations. We must vote for authentic security and the greatness of American Democracy, ethics, human rights, and environmental stewardship.

  • Don't renew an invalid mountaintop removal permit
Alpha Natural Resources' subsidiary Republic Energy has applied for renewal of the 2,040-acre (3+ square miles) "Eagle 2" mountaintop removal coal mine, part of over 10 square miles of destruction on Coal River Mountain. Mountaintop removal blasts fine and ultrafine silica dust and other pollutants into the air, creating a public health threat for nearby residents. At this location, it destroys habitat for the endangered Indiana bat and the threatened northern long-eared bat. WVDEP has failed to take effective action for this company's failure to meet legal requirements at this site and history of violations at neighboring sites.

  • Release for Dr. Askari
We the undersigned concerned residents of the Metropolitan Atlanta are deeply troubled that the recent devastating hurricane demolished the Marianna Prison Camp where our beloved Dr. Nevron Askari was being housed. Subsequently, Dr. Askari has been transferred to a higher risk prison and placed in isolation conditions in Tallahassee Florida. This arrangement significantly deviates from the prior sentencing conditions. Dr. Askari has served a year of her sentence with excellent conduct. In that she has served as an exemplary inmate with no complaints or infractions, we respectfully request she be released and allowed to come home. We request her sentence be completely commuted or reduced to house arrest with or without probation and community service.

  • Protect Our Community: Stop the Release of a Sexually Violent Predator
Quarles has been diagnosed with sexual sadism disorder. He has completed less than half of a 4 module treatment program. The mental health team working most directly with him testified he is not ready. Liberty Health, the company responsible for supervising him upon release testified he is not ready. This is a very dangerous decision for the community of San Diego. It must be reversed!

  • DA Fladager: Free the Baby Cows and Drop the Charges
Three DxE activists were arrested Sunday on charges of felony grand theft and misdemeanor trespass at Ray-Mar Ranches, a California factory farm which supplies calves to Harris Ranch, and beef to Costco and In-N-Out Burger, for removing a living calf who had been abandoned in a dead pile area. A previous DxE investigation discovered a mass graveyard of dead cows and thousands of living baby cows in hutches where they could not even turn around without hitting the walls. The three arrested women had gone back to the farm to bear witness to the animals when they found a dying calf thrown like garbage into the farm's dead zone. We're calling on the Stanislaus County District Attorney to prosecute this abusive farm and not the women who tried to save a dying baby cow. Sign the petition to free the baby cows and drop the charges.

  • Remove Drew Nelson as Salida City Administrator
People who have a history of violence against women should not be given the privilege of holding a position of power or a leading position in public service. Someone who made the choice to become intoxicated and fire a gun in a residential area should not be considered for a role in public service. The Salida City Council made a critical mistake in hiring someone with this history.

  • Abuse of NY Justice Center
My petition is about restoring the right of direct care worker in the field of nursing homes and residential homes for people with disabilities by ensuring proper investigative means for case of allegations of abuse and neglect.Such investigative means should be objective not subjective in order to protect bith direct care worker's right and the residence dignity. For, in most cases, the housing agency uses the allegations against direct care worker or custodian to cover up an agency-based bad management or the inabilities of the agency to operate within the frame of their licensure. An issue of conflict of interest does exist for the agency.I and many coworker are victim of such practices and an investigative documentary interviewing of direct care workers anonymously-because of fear of losing their jobs- should validate these statements.Workers insurance in those agencies require a no fault accident _the likelyhood of which is impossible because the direct care worker duties designed by the housing agency leave no room for such things as no fault accident - for compensation of injured worker. The existing procedures and the vey low paying of direct care workers make it impossible for proper justice thereby allows housing agency to abuse of direct care worker 's right as a citizen in cases of abuse or neglect allegations.

  • Stop Trump's trampling on the rights of transgender people
I am a transgender woman, and I have been out for 11 years. I've had to tolerate the government randomly getting to decide, instead of me or my doctors, what gender belongs on my various documents. If Trump succeeds in this inhumane plan, we will be regressing to outdated 1950s standards. I say no more. We fight for all rights.

  • Vote for integrity
Our current representatives and senators are caught up in the moral crisis pervading Washington DC, and have forgotten their basic South Dakota values. Please vote for those people who have moral character and say no to big money lobbies. Vote for Sutton and the democratic team. Let's bring back values and morality to our state--and our country.
