• The Movement For Violence Free Schools
In January 1989, a man named Patrick Purdy, who was in the lingo of social work, a throwaway kid, opened fire on the school yard at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California. When I heard this horrific news, I remember thinking, the shooter probably attended that school as a child. I was horrified to learn I was correct. We have to stop this epidemic of school-based violence. We can start with better mental health services for children and adolescents. We can continue by limiting access to guns and munitions. And we can make safe schools a priority and appropriate mental health services a right to necessary medical care regardless of social status or income.

  • US Ban on Assault Weapons
The recent shooting in nearby Broward County, Florida is just another example of why assault weapons do not belong in public hands. Rapid-fire weapons do not belong in civilian hands. The founders did not have them, and the right to bear arms is not threatened by banning assault and rapid-fire weapons. We should not allow these weapons to be accessible to the public and the time has come to put an end to this ludicrous "freedom" that reduces the freedoms of the innocent in this country. Stand up for a safer USA—one without easy access to weapons of mass casualty.

  • #SendBackTheBloodMoney Rep. John Duncan Jr.
Representative John Duncan Jr. has received $24,201 in NRA support. We want him to send it back. We won't get sane gun laws passed while the NRA has our Congress in its back pocket. We need to close the loopholes and start requiring background checks for guns purchased at gun shows and through private sellers. We also need background checks for ammo. We also need to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. And civilians do not need AR-15s. We call on Rep. John Duncan Jr. to #SendBackTheBloodMoney the NRA has bought him with. Source: 1. • Rep. Pat Meehan: End NRA Influence
Less than two months into 2018 there have been at least 18 school shootings. How can we put a stop to this violence when our representatives take money from the gun lobby and refuse to support gun regulation? We cannot allow one more child to die at the hands of the NRA, and we cannot allow our Congress members to be paid for their silence.
