• Lambskin condom warning
This is primarily a woman's health issue. Lambskin condoms remain popular (even though they cost 5 times more than latex condoms) because it feels as if one is not wearing a condom. The problem is the common off-label use injures the naive sex partner. These condoms provide zero protection against STDs. The problem is that women seldom read the tiny print on a condom wrapper (in english) before consenting to sex. Women are easily duped into believing that they are protected. This is distinguished from other products used in an off label manor in that the injury occurs to an innocent person. The injury in the instance of HIV can be life-threatening.

  • Save our school children from petty politics
Three of my grandchildren attend Knox County Schools. Recently, Becky Massey and Bill Dunn are trying to legislate requiring school board elections to be partisan. Life is too short to go through this kind of complication.

  • Legalize and regulate the sale of cannabis in West Virginia
Studies have repeatedly shown that alcohol is far more dangerous than cannabis, and yet it is legal to use for recreation. Meanwhile, people who could benefit from its use such as cancer patients, epileptics, and people who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder face prosecution for its possession. There is great revenue to be obtained for the state from regulation and taxation of cannabis, as well as allowing our law enforcement to focus on violent crime and undercutting the profits of criminal activities. History has taught us that the folly of prohibition only acted as a boon for organized crime.

  • Gun Control
I am ashamed of the U.S. legislators not to pass a law that legally makes the owner of a gun responsible for its use. Americans are known the world over as an agressive society.

  • Mr. President: Stop global warming; replace coal with Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors
Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors (LFTRs) are safe and can provide energy and water security for the entire world for thousands of years. LFTRs cannot melt down (they’re molten by design), they do not need backup power (as did Fukushima), they produce less than 1% of the waste of current reactors, they use abundant thorium instead of uranium for fuel, they can be used to generate hydrogen (as a basis for synthetic fuels to replace gasoline and diesel), they can be mass produced, they cannot be used to generate weapons material, and they can be used to replace oil as the energy source for the ever-growing desalination needs of the world. For background information of LFTRs, copy and paste this link into your browser's address bar: http://stopglobalwarmingpetition.blogspot.com/

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield: Stop playing with my medications!
At the beginning of the year, BCBS stopped covering my aunt's compounded medications, which she has been effectively and safely using for years, under the close supervision of her physician. Their solution is to force her to use a stronger medication from a "regular" pharmacy, which is more expensive for both her and BCBS and contains chemicals that could be very detrimental to her health. Even after she offered to pay entirely out-of-pocket, she was told that wasn't an option and that she must use the medication BCBS covers, or none at all. Why is an insurance company given more authority than a physician on what medications are best for patients? Only 2% of the population uses compounded medications, so BCBS is betting that even if all of them speak out, there still won't be enough momentum to push a change. Speak out against BCBS playing with people's health!
