Put a Stop to Mass Shootings. Stricter Gun Laws Now.How is it that we are in this position again? Mass shooting after mass shooting and now back again at a grade school. The American people should not have to fear for their lives every time they see a movie, go to church, shop for groceries or drop their child off at school. Countries all over the world have taken a stand against gun violence by implementing stricter laws and regulations, resulting in near-immediate results. We demand stricter gun control now. Thoughts and prayers do not cut it anymore.272 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Sally Boone

Facebook shouldn’t profit off of racist violence and white supremacy.Big Tech companies can take down and stop profiting off racist violent content like the Buffalo shooting video. Google designated the Buffalo shooting as a “sensitive event,” preventing ads from running on searches related to it. Facebook has not yet decided to demonetize and remove content related to the Buffalo shooting video and replacement theory. The New York Times and Tech Transparency Project found that “Facebook is surfacing the violent video or links to websites hosting the clip next to ads.” Facebook even recommended some search terms for the Buffalo shooting video as “popular searches” on the platform. A study by Media Matters for America revealed that Facebook has profited off over 50 ads from right-wing political candidates pushing the replacement theory and allowed hundreds of similar organic posts from right-wing media outlets. Facebook doesn’t have to profit off this racist violence and white supremacy. Join us in speaking out and demanding action from Facebook. SOURCES: 1. Mac, Ryan. PETITION TO PAY CHILD CARE WORKERS A LIVING WAGEWe need your help. Speak up for child care, your silence gives Legislators permission to inadequately fund family daycare and daycare centers open and affordable to parents. High-quality child care helps children be more successful in school, and has shown improved health and increased earning outcomes over children's lifetimes. The reopening of family daycare and childcare centers is essential to building back a healthy economy. Many family daycare programs and daycare centers have reduced capacity or closed entirely. Without viable childcare solutions, working parents will have a difficult time returning to work The low pay contributes to the increased difficulty of hiring for child care jobs. Retaining staff and recruiting is harder now than it was before the pandemic40,600 of 45,000 SignaturesCreated by Diane Abram

NY State can lead the way NOW to stopping global deforestation! If it passes, the NY Deforestation-free Bill can protect some of the world's most vital ecosystems, curb deforestation, inspire other states to do the same, and help humanity actually address climate change. Deforestation is a major driver of climate change. It causes 10 to 15 percent of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. What's more, keeping forests standing and promoting reforestation is a key solution to reversing climate chaos. If deforestation were a country, it would be the third largest “country” in terms of emissions. We need to fight for climate solutions on the federal AND the State level, and NY State can lead the way. Bill S.5921 is simple. It would ensure that products New York State buys are not contributing to the deforestation of the earth's most precious forests. If NY pulls this off, it'll be the first State in the US to do so. But NY won't be alone. In fact, the European Union and the United Kingdom are already creating regulations to curb imported deforestation into their jurisdictions. By having NY do the right thing, we can send a message to other countries and companies that they should do the same. Sign our petition to pass a strong law to fight deforestation! Be a forest champion and help save this planet for future generations.95 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Etelle Higonnet

We must vote out Governor Greg Abbott!Greg Abbott is running for a third term this year, and he’s using his office to promote baseless propaganda, instead of working with the administration to act swiftly and decisively to support Texans. Migrant children deserve respect and care, and to blame them instead of corporations falls directly in line with the rising blatant racism and xenophobia from the Republican Party. The corporate monopoly of major formula manufacturers contributed to this crisis—and elected leaders need to break their corporate stranglehold, not scapegoat and harm immigrant families and babies. This callous behavior from Greg Abbott cannot go on, he needs to resign. Sign the petition demand that Governor Abbott resign, and if he doesn't resign, we will be ready to vote him out come 2022! Corporations are to blame for the formula shortageYou might be surprised to know that the market around baby formula actually barely exits: it’s a monopoly. Abbott Nutrition is just one of four companies that dominate this market. The company provides nearly half (43%) of the baby formula in the U.S. alone. The small number of companies in the market is purposeful, it makes it easier for companies to take profits for themselves and away from workers. Parents can't go to work because they're traveling across state lines to try to find formula when their local store shelves are empty, they're using expired formula that a neighbor had in their basement, they're using formula with allergens because the hypoallergenic formula their baby needs is just not available, and they're taking to the internet to find DIY recipes to create their own formula, a risky proposition when it comes to feeding your baby. We need urgent action NOW.255 of 300 Signatures
