• Congress Gave $10 Billion in Relief for Child Care- Make Sure it Reaches the Providers
Child care facilities remain on the brink of closure! Please tell Colorado to give their child care facilities the funds Congress allocated for them. Please ask the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Child Care to provide better oversight of these funds. Please ask the General Accountability Office to investigate misappropriation of these public funds.

  • Keep Masks in Schools - Palm Beach County
The evidence is clear and the message from the CDC, scientists worldwide and doctors is aligned and straightforward. Masks prevent transmission of COVID19 as well as other illnesses (like colds and flu). Children over 12 years old are recently able to access the vaccine but younger children are not. The universal masking policy should remain in place until all students have access to the vaccine and community spread is very low. The rampant spread of COVID variants in our community makes masking even MORE important, as the variants are more likely to cause illness, hospitalization and death. All masking policies must be enforced to ensure the safety of all on campuses and in our community at large. Without enforcement, any claims that the district has a mask policy are attempts to mislead parents, students and the community. An outbreak of COVID19 in our schools would be disruptive to our children's continued education, potentially deadly for adults and children alike and will spread COVID into the community.

  • Unsafe BUS STOP BY DAYCARE
We service the marginalized families in the Red Hook Community and are commited to child safety. The decision to install the bus stop outside our school was in reckless disregard for the safety of our children. At NO TIME were we consulted or advised that a bus stop was being installed outside our school. We would have vociferously expressed our concerns. Since the installation of this bus stop, we have reached out to express our concerns. Sadly, this fell on deaf ears. We live in daily fear that someone will get hurt or WORSE because of the danger of the bus turning on our corner where parents cross the street to enter/leave our building. Also, many of our children leave our building when it is dark during the winter months. The children and families of the Red Hook houses deserve a safe environment like their counterparts in gentrified neighborhoods. As advocates for our families and community, we DEMAND that this bus stop is removed. Please help keep our children safe!!!

  • Replace the 14 yr old SCSU.edu website with a Modern, Attractive, Mobile Friendly Website
Over 41% of visitors to college websites use a smartphone but the outdated SCSU.edu website doesn't work with smartphones. That's unacceptable. A non-functioning website is bad for recruiting and enrollment. Lower enrollment means fewer resources and more cuts and more pleas for funding. We want a New Mobile Optimized Website for South Carolina State University. We're tired of the delays and lack of urgency. Our SCSU.edu website is severely outdated. It's 14 years old. We deserve a website that makes all SCSU supporters proud and meets the needs of Gen Z prospective students. Let's not drag this process out. We call on the Administration to create, develop and launch a new website before the Fall Semester. It can be done if this situation is treated like the emergency it is. 1) Visit the SCSU.edu website on a desktop/laptop then visit on a smartphone. 2) Notice how difficult it is for prospective students, donors and supporters to make a decision about attending SC State, donate money or take a virtual tour when visiting SCSU.edu on a smartphone. 3) Sign the petition to get the website revamped, rebuilt, refreshed and mobile optimized before the 2021 Fall Semester. We can't wait any longer. Background facts behind the call to action: African Americans have the lowest Desktop computer ownership rates and the highest smartphone ownership rates. Yet the outdated South Carolina State University website that's inadequate on desktops does not work properly on Smartphones. 85% of adults think that a company’s mobile website should be as good or better than their desktop website. 88% of users are less likely to return to a website after a bad user experience. Mobile users are 5 times more likely to abandon a task if the website isn’t optimized for mobile. The average student visiting a college site spends: 2 minutes on average on a college site 2 pages on average are viewed on college site 57% is the bounce rate (leaving a college site without visiting more than the page they landed on) for most college websites. A website that isn't mobile optimized will: Have a higher than average bounce rate. Reflect poorly on the institution. Make it harder for students that don't own a desktop to navigate, apply, or take a virtual tour

  • Support HB3922 & Make Juneteenth A Illinois State Holiday
Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. It is also known as Emancipation Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, and Black Independence Day. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX, and announced the end of the civil war and the end of slavery. Although the Emancipation Proclamation came 2½ years earlier on January 1, 1863, many slave owners continued to hold their slaves captive after the announcement, so Juneteenth became a symbolic date representing African American freedom. Juneteenth is not a federal holiday. Forty-five states and the District of Columbia recognize Juneteenth as a holiday or observance.

  • Reestablish Federal Theatre Project
President Biden's predecessor FDR signed the New Deal Legislation to bring the country out of Depression and also brought forth FEDERAL THEATRE. We the actors and artists are out of work and are in a similar situation comparable to the Depression era of 1930's with Covid 19 still hanging over our heads. All the theaters along with so many businesses are shut down. Actors and artists are out of work since the beginning of the Pandemic. FEDERAL THEATRE was a successful project and it created a new awareness among the public and work for all the actors and others that depend on theatre. An idea is a most powerful thing. And theatre is the place to nurture those ideas in these changing and rebuilding times. It is the Federal Theatre that gave opportunity to everyone to become an artist. And some of the most wonderful artists came out of that project, for instance, Arthur Miller, Orson Welles to name a couple. It's not just commercial theatre that only few people can afford to go. Federal Theatre is open for everyone and it is full of new ideas. It is time to restart this project again. Other Western countries have it in one form or the other of this theatre and they produce wonderful plays and create excellent artists. You need ART and a person can not live by bread alone. Coming out of Pandemic and being cooked up in self-containment in our apartments, it is essential to have a theatre to go to, that is cheap and affordable to everyone, not just for few. Moreover, It is good for the society and for everyone's mental health. Tell President Biden to publicly support this proposal and sign it as part of the New Stimulus legislation or a separate Executive Order from the White House.

  • Girls dress code for all schools
Girls are always treated like objects and it’s not ok if we show some skin then it’s wrong but then we get ISS if and have to cover in duck tape too it’s not ok girls populate this world and all we get in return is these stupidly high expectation standards and ofc we get punished when we do anything that isn’t in these expectations girls are already objectified enough and we deserve more respect for everything we all have to go through and I know for a fact that half of the adults now tried to wear stuff kinda like how we do today and then we’re told they couldn’t and then got mad don’t let y’all’s past control our lives are y’all wearing what we chose to wear no we wear what we are comfortable in and what we chose so don’t go making us be something we aren’t girls all over are being punished for wearing something and for expressing them selves it’s not ok for how girls are treated some girls can get away with wearing skirts and shorts and anything else showing skin but half the other girls get punished for it is ridiculous for how higher these standards are for girls! I could go on and on and on about the whole dress code situation but I wanna get at least maybe 100 or 200 signs from other girls who agree ever from any other schools it can be honestly any women who agrees with me and my school cause this isn’t ok! More people can sign if they want to but honestly I just want people who agree to sign!

  • Prioritize Teacher Vaccinations in MA
In the COVID-19 rollout plan for Massachusetts, teachers and academic instructors are included in Phase 3, effectively putting them in line with the general public. Teachers have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to provide a semblance of normalcy to a disrupted academic year to the students of Massachusetts and will continue to do so moving forward, and should be protected by the vaccine immediately. As districts throughout the state are returning more students to in-person, full-time instruction, this is a change that needs to take place as soon as possible.  To all the parents of school-aged children here in MA, if you truly want your children to be safely back in-person, please make yourselves heard! Please join me in telling Governor Baker and the Massachusetts Vaccine Advisory Group that teachers deserve better and should be included in Phase 2 distribution of the vaccine (and is consistent with where other states have prioritized this profession).

  • Attention Veterans with Families living in Project based Housing
I lost my dad on October 14 2020, he was a Veteran we lived at Veterans Village in Loma Linda, Ca for the past year plus. I am currently being evicted because my dad died and I am now considered "an unauthorized occupant who has only been here since her dad died". This is how they treat the families of our Veterans, they have lied and kicked our Veterans families out to the street. The fate and future of our Veteran families lies in the hands of the Housing Authority / HACSB and is upon their discretion as to what happens to our Veterans families? Think about that for a second.... I wish for no other family to have to endure what I have had to go through since loosing my dad. I'm advocating for my dad Joe Walker and for all our Veterans and their families. Please help me by signing this petition so that our Veteran's family's will not be thrown out to the streets and help me to enforce awareness and enforce a policy to protect and give security to our Veterans loved ones once they are gone. Take a stand and help our Veterans families sign and share this petition. Thank You and God Bless

  • Make the Hiring Process for the Next Chief of Prince George’s County Police Department Transparent
The process to hire a new Chief of Police for Prince George’s County must be fully transparent. As PG County residents we must be included in the hiring process in ways that go beyond a mere community survey. The role of the police chief is far too great and needs to be accountable to the members of the community with all police matters.
